Bioremediation MCQs with Answers

Welcome to the Bioremediation MCQs with Answers. In this post, we have shared Bioremediation Online Test for different competitive exams. Find practice Bioremediation Practice Questions with answers in Biology Tests exams here. Each question offers a chance to enhance your knowledge regarding Bioremediation.

Bioremediation: this is a clean technology relative to the use of living organisms, which includes microbes and plants; it detoxifies the contaminated environment through restoration of degraded environments. The whole process depends on the natural metabolic activities of those organisms degrading pollutants to less harmful substances. Bioremediation utilizes diverse remediation approaches for soil, water, and air.

The benefits of bioremediation have been many. Not only is it cheaper than some other traditional methods of remediation like excavation and chemical treatment, but bioremediation can also conserve an ecosystem from disturbance and the use of toxic chemicals. Moreover, bioremediation can be in situ, thus the treatments are performed in situ, or directly at the site of contamination so that there is no possibility of dispersion of pollutants during the cleaning process.

The bioremediation is very diverse with different types of bioremediation suited to the type of contaminants and conditions. In microbial bioremediation, bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms play a role in breaking up organic pollutants, such as petroleum hydrocarbons, pesticides, and solvents. Phytoremediation is uptake, accumulation, and, in some instances, detoxification of some contaminants within plants including heavy metals and organic pollutants. Bioventing and biosparging are enhancements to in situ biodegradation by incorporating oxygen into contaminated soil and ground for the purpose of enhancing microbially catalysed aerobic degradation of the contaminants.
