American Chemical Society Scholarship

The ACS Scholars Program supports underrepresented minority high school seniors and undergraduate students who demonstrate academic excellence and plan to pursue careers in the chemical sciences. Eligible applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, plan to enroll full-time, and major in an appropriate chemical science field.

Please note: Students intending to enter pre-med programs or pursuing degrees in pharmacy are not eligible for this award.

Application Requirements:

  • Completed Application Form

  • Official Transcript

  • FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

  • Recommendation Letter

Selection Criteria:

Applications are reviewed by the Selection Committee, which evaluates candidates based on:

  • Academic record

  • Career objectives

  • Financial need

  • Leadership ability

  • Participation in school and community activities

All applicants who submit complete applications (including financial documents) will be notified of their status in early June.

Award Information:

Scholarship amounts are awarded annually as follows:

  • Freshmen: $2,500

  • Sophomores: $3,000

  • Juniors and Seniors: $5,000

Awards are renewable each year, depending on funding availability and the number of scholarships granted.
Total annual scholarship funding: Up to $5,000 per student.

Funds are sent directly to the financial aid office at the recipient’s college or university. Checks are issued twice yearly (July and December) and made payable to both the student and the institution.
