Eligibility Criteria Applicants must meet all of the following criteria by 11:59pm (UK time), Friday 29 May 2026:
Have a household income of £42,000 or less, confirmed by a UK funding authority (SFE, SFW, SAAS, or SFNI)
Hold Home fee status
Be from a widening participation background and qualify for Imperial’s contextual admissions schemes

Plan to begin an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering in 2026/27
Hold an offer of admission for a three- or four-year full-time undergraduate course in Chemical Engineering at Imperial
Please note: This scholarship is not available to continuing students.
Application Process
To be considered, applicants must complete both steps below by the deadline:
Step 1: Student Finance Application
Submit a student finance application and be means-tested by Student Finance England (or equivalent authority)
Household income must be £42,000 or less per year and confirmed by SFE by the deadline
Applicants are strongly advised to apply early, as assessment can take up to 8 weeks
Ensure consent is given to share household income details with Imperial
Step 2: UCAS Application
Submit a UCAS application for Chemical Engineering
Hold an offer of admission by 29 May 2026 (11:59pm UK time)
Assessment
Eligible applicants will be ranked by the Department of Chemical Engineering based on academic merit and/or potential, as demonstrated in their UCAS application.
Award Details
One scholarship is available for 2026–27
The successful applicant will receive £20,000 per year, for up to 4 academic years
Funds will first be used to cover tuition fees
Any remaining amount will be paid directly to the student as a maintenance grant
The scholarship does not cover repeat years of study
Outcome of the Award
The successful candidate will be notified by email no later than 31 July 2026
If no notification is received by this date, applicants should assume they were unsuccessful
The scholarship cannot be deferred
Award is conditional upon:
Acceptance of the scholarship Terms and Conditions
Holding an unconditional offer by September 2026
Maintaining satisfactory academic progress as defined by Imperial

The A&BK Scholarship is awarded annually from 2022–23 through 2026–27.
