  1. Project Background

Unemployment and poverty are major challenges in rural areas of Sindh, especially in District Badin. Many educated and skilled youth remain jobless due to limited industrial activity. To address this, this project proposes the installation of a small-scale soap manufacturing factory in Khoski City.

The purpose of this initiative is to:

  • Create local employment opportunities.
  • Promote small-scale industrial growth in the region.
  • Produce quality, affordable soap for local and regional markets.
  • Empower youth and women through sustainable income generation.
  1. Project Objectives
  2. Establish a fully functional soap production unit within 6 months.
  3. Employ 10–12 local people directly and 5–10 indirectly.
  4. Produce 500–700 soap bars per day in the first phase.
  5. Ensure the use of high-quality raw materials to meet hygiene standards.
  6. Supply soap to local shops, schools, and rural communities at affordable rates.

 

  1. Project Description

The project involves setting up a soap factory that will produce washing and bathing soaps using a blend of oils, caustic soda, fragrance, and colorants. The process will be semi-automatic — combining manual skill with machinery for efficient production.

Key Activities

  1. Factory Setup & Rent Agreement
    • Rent a small industrial building within Khoski City.
    • Basic renovation, water supply, and electrical wiring setup.
  2. Procurement of Machinery
    • Purchase and install soap mixing, cutting, drying, and packaging machines.
  3. Procurement of Raw Materials
    • Buy basic ingredients for soap making: oils, caustic soda, colors, and perfumes.
  4. Recruitment of Staff
    • Hire skilled and semi-skilled workers, including a production supervisor, machine operators, and packaging staff.
  5. Production Start-up
    • Begin with 500 bars/day capacity; scale up gradually based on market demand.
  6. Marketing and Sales
    • Introduce the brand in local markets.
    • Use banners, flyers, and social media for awareness.

 

  1. Production Process Overview
  1. Mixing: Oils, caustic soda, and other ingredients are mixed in a stainless-steel tank.
  2. Saponification: The mixture is heated to create soap mass.
  3. Molding: The semi-solid mixture is poured into molds to form soap bars.
  4. Cutting and Drying: Bars are cut and dried naturally for 24–48 hours.
  5. Stamping and Packaging: The soap bars are wrapped, labeled, and packed for sale.

The factory will sustain itself through consistent production, bulk supply to local shops, and contracts with schools, hotels, and small retailers. Over time, profits will be reinvested to increase capacity, introduce new product lines, and enhance packaging.

This project will not only create jobs but also promote local entrepreneurship in District Badin. With an investment of Rs. 31 lakh, this small-scale soap manufacturing factory can serve as a model for rural industrialization and youth empowerment in Sindh.
